March for Babies

I am raising money for the March of Dimes March for Babies. My involvement with March of Dimes started back when my sister Brooke had her triplets at only 24 weeks. Each of them weighed under 2 lbs. They are doing so amazing now and it is because of the technology we have and because of the research the March of Dimes conducts in making the technology so great. Click HERE to read my sister's story. Her family is the Ambassador Family for the Weber/Morgan area.

I had my own personal experiences with preemies when my own twins were born. As we all know, Brighton did great and didn't have any problems, but Austin had a rough beginning. He went without oxygen for at least 3 minutes and his Apgar scores were 1,1, and a 3. If you didn't know, the Apgar score is out of 10, with zero being dead and 10 being very healthy. Austin was only a one. He had a pneumothorax and had to have CPR to get his heart beating and to get him breathing again. Once they got him stabilized, they put him on the Cool-Cap to prevent any further brain damage. Without the Cool-Cap, Austin could have had moderate to severe cerebral palsy. I am so grateful for the technology McKay-Dee's NICU had to help my little Austin. If I even had Austin just one year earlier, he wouldn't have been able to be on the Cool-Cap because the hospital didn't have it then. He was only the 6th baby ever at McKay-Dee to use it.

It's because of the research that March of Dimes does that helps save our little babies. If you have had your own baby in the NICU, you know how amazing everything is that they can do to help your baby. You also know the deep worry of having your baby in the NICU. Please help continue the research for our babies by donating to March of Dimes!! Even if it is just a few dollars, every little cent helps. There will be a March for Babies walk on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Layton Commons Area (just north of Layton High).

If you want to donate and/or walk, click on the banner at the top of the page! If you walk with us, you'll get a t-shirt!!! :)

THANK YOU!!!!
